Common misuse: Treating “continuous availability” as requiring every team member to be available 24/7. The principle is about designing systems for continuous availability, not requiring continuous human availability.

Common misuse: Automating a process before understanding it, baking bad logic into an irreversible pipeline. “We automated the wrong thing faster.” Automating chaos just produces automated chaos — faster.

Common misuse: Treating documentation as a one-time activity rather than a living practice. Stale documentation is worse than no documentation because it actively misleads. The principle requires ongoing maintenance, not a single writing sprint.
